Hi Fella's.. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions.

My engine runs really rough at cold temperatures, and typically doesnt idle well until 160 degrees (I have a live gauge).

To start the motor when it's cold, if I pump the accelerator 4 times that seems to help it start even though it's fuel injected.

Spark plugs have been replaced.

Think this could be the EGR setup?

Fuel pump?

Once it is up to normal operating temperature it's fine.

Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.

lol i am having the same problem and can't figure it out if you find out what it is let me know please

Could it be you have a bad temp switch? Does you original temp gauge still work? If the original gauge was disconnected to make the aftermarket one work then I'd be replaceing the temp switch.

The original gauge wasnt working properly, that's why i installed the live gauge. is the temp sending unit and the switch the same thing?

Which temp sensor did you replace?

There are 2.

The ETC and the temp gauge sender.
If you switched out the ETC, your PCM is operating blind at what temp it's at. Could explain alot.

There should be two sendors in the coolant. One is variable and goes to the gauge.

The other is a temp SWITCH. It's job is to wait till the coolant is at running temperature and then it CLOSES and allows a signal to go to the computer.

This signal changes the amount of fuel and timing in the engine.

If this switch fails the computer may think the engine is at normal running temperature at all times. This would cause poor running when the engine is cold.

:shok: Can anyone tell me where the temp switch is located? Diagram or something?

Should be right next/(behind and to the sides) to the t-stat housing(both are there on opposite sides). It's the one on the driver's side that the PCM reads off of and the one on the passenger side that you should replace with the aftermarket sensor.

Thanks, anyone have any other items to recommend i check if this isnt the solution?

i would have your alternator check that was my problem because it was not puttin out enough jucie
