Howdy everyone,
So I finally had the chance to tackle the 2 leaking injectors on my 4.0 from a 92 explorer. They have leaked since I put the 4.0 in the truck, and they might have even leaked while it was still in the explorer but I don't recall whether they did. Last night I pulled them and replaced the o-rings on all 3 on that side that was leaking, but the same 2 that were leaking before are still leaking. They are leaking in the bottom where they go into the intake. Does anyone know why this might be?

If they are leaking into the engine, i.e from the actual nozzle then they need to be rebuilt or replaced. If they are leaking between the manifold and injector i.e allowing air into the engine then you probably just didn't clean the manifold good enough when you re-installed them.

Dirtman,
Gas is pooling up around them on the outside between the valve covers and the upper intake. I suppose maybe we didn't clean everything good enough but it we cleaned it pretty good and put a brand new gasket on.

It is uncommon but possible the actual body of the injectors are cracked.

I reckon you are right, considering its the same two even when in different spots on the fuel rail. I have injectors from a 5.0 ford truck, and from my old 2.9 i can pull off. Would those work or are they not the correct rating(don't know the correct term) for the 4.0

Fuel injectors are rated by pounds. You need to run the same pound or the computer will go nuts trying to correct the air/fuel ratio since it bases its calculations off known set parameters like fuel pressure and injector flow. I do not know if the 2.9 or 5.0 injectors will match the 4.0.
