First post here but have been snooping for a while. Well here it goes, I'll try to remember everything I did...

I bought this little truck for my son knowing that the tranny had just been rebuilt...obviously by an idiot!!! Anyway, when I got it you could only manually shift between the gears and after it warmed up everything was fine so I was leaning toward a vacuum problem.

So this brings me to yesterday. I'm doing a little R&R on the tailhousing (fixing the parking mechanism...they had it on backwards) when my son said the column readout was off. Here is where I screwed up...I adusted a cable on the drivers side of the tranny. I removed a clip on an adjustable black retangle thing that had a bunch of notches in it. I moved it so the column readout was correct and now I don't have 3rd or OD and it won't shift at all now between 1st and 2nd. After I did some research, it looks like the adjustment I wanted is under the steering column.:shok: Sooooo, what is the procedure for adjusting this back? I read in the tech section but it doesn't address this cable and what do you think the shifing problem stems from? She did shift pretty firm before I messed with it so I do think its a fresh rebuild but somebody didn't know how to adjust it correctly.

Oh yeah, I adjusted the kickdown by pinching the plastic thing on the firewall, pulling it out some and then pressing firmly on the gas.

I guess its a good thing I paid close to nothing for this little beauty.
