My credo
Low range in Nova Scotia on YouTube!
I have a 91 4x4 and pulled the hubs off to replace bearings, etc. Somehow...I'm missing two nuts! I set them somewhere but can't find them. So, need to go to a junk yard, which ones will fit? what year is the same and does it have to be manual hubs? (Mine are manual)

I have craft disease, Can't Remember A Frigging Thing! They are sitting somewhere "so I won't lose them" but I need this thing back together soonest.

Any and all comments appreciated...well...except for the "you're a dumbass for losing them in the first place" lol!!

IIRC you need them from a truck with a Dana 35 front axle... so safe bet is 91-97... or 91-94 Explorer. I believe the earlier Dana 28 axle nuts have a smaller ID and thread although the outside diameter is the same. You must get them from a truck with manual hubs... the auto hub lock nut is totally different and won't work for you.

Aren't the inner and outer nuts different also... the inner having a pin?

Oh, yes the inner are different as you say. I'm missing one of each....they're sitting SOMEWHERE.....checked parts washer, work bench, under the truck...uuugggghhh!!! This is ridiculous, how do two go missing?!?!?!

Now that I know what I need though, I'm calling around. The first yard doesn't keep anything older than 2005! Idiots crushed everything older in January. :(

Just make sure you use the washer also... still have both of those right?

Ffs...rock auto has both nuts and the washer for $5 or so. Ordering that.
Thanks for the replies.

Your local auto supplies have them to Napa, AutoZone, Advance...

FOUND THEM!!! The kid grabbed the rag I had them wrapped in and put it on his dune buggy project. I went to move it and the rag fell and one rolled out. AHA! Opened up the rag and they were.
All back together properly, took the first test drive last night. In low range it idles through the mud/rocks pretty good but its only got 215/70/15 winter tires on it and I'm concerned once I put 33's or 35's it'll be geared too high. 3:55's now, think if I do swap I'll be going to 5:13's. I like to crawl.

Start drinking Folgers coffee. If you drink as much as I do you will have a shop full of cans to put your nuts in.

Put your nuts in... when she finds out you want to spend more damn money on that Ranger.

I figured the wife had the nuts the whole time. lol

btw...

"hub nuts"
;missingteeth;

Fitting....

I might have to paint a coffee can and stencil it HUB NUTS
