i might be picking up a 91 exploror for the tranny just wondering what motor is in it the guy knoes its a v6 other than that he doesent know:icon_confused:

All Explorers up until about 95/96 were 4.0's. After that, they could be either 4.0 or V8.:)shady

ok cool what would be some time/effort worthy parts to pull/swap on to my 1990 4.0 ranger 4x4

there is so got to be some good parts on the exploder

engine will be like changing an engine if your ranger has a 4.0L the explorer axles are definitely stronger. you will have to flip the perches on the explorer 8.8. you can also get a little lift from explorer springs if you have a standard cab.

The 8.8 in it is a 31 spline where the 8.8 in your Ranger(most likely)is a 28. The D35's are identical, but it never hurts to have extra parts. Heck you may even sell a few parts to folks here who need something......

If you're gonna part it, put it in the For Sale section.
