91 4.0 to a 96?

i need a new motor for my 96 4x4 ranger and found one out of a 91. but ive had people tell me it wont work? if it will work what all would i have to do to make it work? thanks

they are both 4.0 motors.

You can use the engine but most of the sensors will be different. Just swap the long block, bolt all of your 91 sensors to it and you should be good. It will probably require you to swap your upper intake manifold.
