91' 2.3 ranger quick upgrades

Hey guys I have a 1991 ranger 2wd 5 spd. I am looking for some quick upgrades that i can do to my truck to get a little more pep out of it until I get the funds to do a 5.0 conversion. Any input would be appreciated.

The obvious - full tuneup to start with. Run premium gas.

Some good input there on some does and don'ts. The bottom line is that unless you do a turbo or the like, there isn't too much you can do to make significantly noticable improvement. The 5.0 swap from what I've read is the most practical approach to boosting performance. You might want to save your money for then.
