90TM shortblock into 97 Ranger?

That's simple enough. The 90TM block I'll be using didn't have the overheating and coolant in the oil that this engine has. I think it will be somewhat temporary just so I can use the truck as I've been reading a little about using the sohc longblock with ohv everything else. A lot of guys seem to like the new mustang engines the best. That could be pretty sweet.

The engine mounts didnt really change from 86 all the way till 97, there are no additional block holes needed, its all there, just swap sensors, harness, and injectors and go, it will run just fine.

You know, I've read this many times. Probably almost as many times as I've read that you need to modify something. I've got plenty of steel, a grinder and a welder if all else fails!

I put a 93 explorer 4.0 in an 86 ranger using the explorer plates and 86 mounts, hardest part of dealing with the mounts is putting the nuts on, good luck

Small update if anyone cares. I used the 90TM block with the brand new 95TM heads off ebay. I still haven't been able to drive the truck too far yet (bad brakes-found a cracked spindle nut while replacing brakes-couldn't get one local-had to order online-just showed up last night) But it seems to run pretty well. The motor mounts were the same on both engines as far as I could tell. I didn't do anything funny to get it in there. I've got some pretty gnarly exhaust leaks, but I just ordered up the silver ceramic coated JBA headers to fix that issue. I think it will be a great little truck, but unfortunately the previous owners didn't seem to do any maintenance at all so I'm trying to correct all their neglect.
