900rpm idle

I usually drive 6 miles to work myself. I have to take my truck on a longer trip for the idle to smooth out any time I unhook the battery. At least 30 minutes or so of non-stop driving to get everything fully heat soaked.

So I’m playing around with it this morning… I put my old IAC valve back on.. sure enough it idles at 900.. the 900 idle was the reason I bought all the new sensors to bring it back down to 700..

Plug my new IAC on and it fires up at 1500… goes down right about 1000… then slowly I’m a up to 1200…

I think when I get home I’m going to clean my old IAC valve and see what happens..

These parts are what 3 weeks old? I hope they stand behind this valve.. it was close to 200 bucks

It’s a motor craft IAC valve too.. I also go OEM to avoid these kind of things..

I find it hard to believe this new one is faulty

That sounds awful. Maybe unrelated, but high idle could be caused by ECT if the computer thinks it's too cold still. By 04 IDK if it still had a separate sender for the gauge or not. Best I can tell from RockAuto, not. So if the gauge shows normal it's probably fine. You could connect a Scan Tool to view the current temperature as a number. That'd be more accurate than the gauge.

Auto parts store says it’s got a 2 year warranty, they ordered me a new one should be here Friday

Yeah my temp gauge reads and functions like normal. If the new IAC doesn’t fix the issue, the truck has 130k on it, won’t hurt to change that coolant temp sensor
