90 ranger sloppy wheel bearing

So i have a 90 ranger 4x4- 2.9 and im trying to figure out why my wheel bearing keeps loosening up. I know its a problem area for these and I just replaced the inner and outer bearing but not the races. They looked good but im not sure if somehow that is the issue but for some reason two weeks after I just did the bearings the driver side is loose again. I snugged it up good so i dont know how it is loose again. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks

Manual or auto hubs?

If it's manual hub and the locknuts are what is loosening, the problem is the key in the washer between the nuts that is too loose, some of them the key is too narrow and they move around. I haven't had an issue with it on mine but I have a 25" breaker bar, and I'm a big guy and I put everything I can into tightening the outer nut... that's somewhere in the 250+lb torque range... I imagine anyway, hasn't failed me yet...

Replace the races. There is a reason they bearings come with new races.

Replacing the races can't hurt, but be sure the pins for your lock washers are there, the keys aren't damaged, and for Pete's sake over torque the living f**k out of the outer nut.

Be careful on that over-torquing thing. I've found the inner nut usually slips a little when I try to torque down the outer nut. This causes the wheel bearings to be too tight.

It's not a problem as long as the key doesn't break off the lock washer. I recommend the Dorman lock washers. They seem to be higher quality than most I've come across.
