i recently ran it out of fuel so maybe thats why i thought well maybe it suck up some junk an plugged the filter so i changed it. thank u guys for your time.
You cannot "suck up junk by running the tank empty, the pickup is at the bottom of the tank, so any "junk" is going to get sucked up first.
Infact after you fill the tank and drive the truck the ENTIRE volume of fuel in the tank is cycled through the fuel pump up through the lines, through the filter, through the fuel rail, back through the regulator & lines (again) then back to the tank. this happens every 35-40minutes....
As the fuel volume decreases the time it takes to pump it all around decreases, 40min for a ful 20gal tank, by the time you've pumped it around once you've burned off two gallons (or more) and next time around you only have 17gal to pump
only a small percentage of the fuel pumped actually gets used by
the engine... this is not to say that everything is "right"
the symptoms actually sound like something I've experienced before
between the pump itself and the pickup unit that it is part of there is
a short, 2inch or so, lenght of hose that couples the pump to the metal pickup tube.
Over time this hose deteriorates and I've had several suffer
"ruptured aneurisms" and much of the fuel being pumped
blows back into the tank instead of up the fuel line
Most recently I had the hose between the pump and pickup in
my in-bad tank blow out, sounds bad but a pressurized fuel leak
inside the tank is about the safest place for a pressure leak.
And previous to that I had this happen to my Aerostar
And running it behaved just as you describe your truck.
I was thinking dead or dying pump, not $0.32 worth of rubber
EFI fuel line.
