I,ve been workin on my Ranger for a couple months now, traded a pistol and a hundred bucks for it ($400 total) knowing exactly what I was gonna do with it, beat it. This is my first wheeler project, I've been drag racing for a few years now and needed a toy for the off season, which anyone familiar with Washington state knows is about 9 months long because of all the rain. It's a 1990 ranger XLT with a 2.9L, manual tranny, Dana 35 front, limited slip 7.5 in the rear, both have 3.73 gears. Since aquiring the Ranger I've bobbed the long box 11 inches and the frame 8 inches, first time I had done anything like that, fun project. Picked up a complete lift bracket set for 25 bucks, bought skyjacker 6 inch lift coils for the front (brackets and coils installed), built longer brake lines (installed), bought a 3 inch body lift that I have yet to install. Got a set of 34" LTBs for free from a buddy, two of them are kinda beat, but you can't complain about free right? Just ordered a drop pitman arm, Belltech shackles and a new lift block kit 30 minutes ago... Still need to get shocks and new wheels for the tires because they are for a 16 inch rim... Future plans are to do the Dana 44 knuckles swap, Dana 44 rear from a Wagoneer, new gears and a motor swap... The little drag racing devil says small block chevy (can't beat the feeling of raw power) but a 4.0 would be fine and less work.
