90 ranger 5.0 swap

i want to use the explorer headers to save some cash that I don't have haha

now that I'm looking I think this kit lacks the oil filter relocater

Make sure the oil re locator kit you get. Has the line connections pointing towards the front of the truck. If they come straight out of the block. You're screwed.

I see the oil part that secures onto the block. and it does point 90 d away from the frame. so this is ok but you will still need the part for the oil filter and some hoses.

not a good review for the product though. did you see the picture he provided?

thanks for the link bro I appreciate it. yea I read that review and it sucked aaaasssss. but I read other reviews and they looked pretty good. so I just might but this mount kit and buy the advance adapters oil relocater it's and 80$ piece

does the explorer fuel tank fit my ranger? I would oil to keep the fuel pump and all harness too

hey again does anybody know if the fuel tank would fit my ranger that would make my build easier

I vote for a stock Ranger fuel tank for a Ranger with the same bed/cab configuration as what you have. Stock fuel pump will feed a stock 5.0 with ease.

It just doesn't get any easier than that :icon_thumby:

Forget the book and forget the kit. V6 mounts with adapter plates, get the fittings from Summit or somewhere for the oil filter (so you can pick the filter base that fits best where you want to put it)

Cast iron Explorer exhaust manifolds fit and perform the best of Explorer ones out there, not sure what you have.

I converted both my Ranger and my engine to use Explorer engine accessories and made a write up on it, it might help you some.

thank you very much I really appreciate it. thanks for the link it has great information as for the cooling the explorer rad IS really tall haha. I do have the explorer manifolds I have the whole truck and it drives great best 200 I ever spent

quick question, do you know exactly what shape those adapter plates should be for the v6 mounts? is there like a copy I can't print out and trace it on a piece of 1/4 steel?

and thank you for the tip on the fuel tank I can just sell the explorer tank too make some change back for this swap.

btw do you know if this steering column fits my truck? or what's involved?

Some Ex's had cast iron manifolds, some had welded tube ones, the cast ones flow better.

I used the radiator from a 91-94 Explorer 4dr with auto and A/C. It is adequate, I do question how well it is going to do when I get A/C back on the truck. 5.0 ex radiator fan shroud hung about 3" below the frame rails on a stock truck, with my body lift it is about even. It might work with a body lift, not sure how much radiator hangs below the shroud.

There is a diagram in here, the final bolts location will vary from swap to swap.

I doubt the steering column will swap, lots of changes between yours and a V8 Explorer.

thanks again bro I have seen that write up but it would be cool if somebody had there in a print out I doubt it can vary much.
and keeping the obd2 would just pulling all associated harnesses? under the dash?

It varies quite a bit, my SN-95 mounts did not fit how they fit in everyone elses truck.

Harness changed a lot. My 2.8 was Duraspark, my 5.0 is Duraspark... so for ignition all I did was unplug one and plug in the other. Can't help you much other than that.

to get it bar legal I need EVERYTHIBG huh fuel lines and all
