Hbey guys im planning on doingthe explorer 5.0 swap hopefully from a non pats, i csn get an expo for 700 so im not worried about getting a donor. I have read the many 5.0 swap threads but i still need a lil help. Wiring will not be an issue i got a guy for that.
I have currently the 2.3 5 speed

The auto trans, can i use thr sullivon trans crossmember with the 4 speed auto?
I know my driveshaft should bolt up no problem.

For my fuel system i was thinkingabout running an intake Bosch 044 fuel pump.
As for the swap kit i will be using the jegs package with the mounts headers and oil relocation.

Am i missing anything? As for the shifting on the auto i was hoping i could rig up one using a jnunkyard mustang auto floor shifter. I plan on t5 later but im on a budget.

Nobody?
Jnust installed a 96 explorer 3.73'd diff along with sway bar

:icon_confused:

mustang/mark/bird floor shifter can work or use a column shift from the sploder

this will require a fox style pan as well.

theres so many awesome engines out here today 4,6,and 8 cyl that actually make power........that justify questions...answering 5.0 sploder swap stuff that is dialed in pretty well seems a waste of time for many. so be patient

what's going on guys just wanted to keep everybody posted on my Cheapy swap.

I recently came up on a 1997 explorer 5.0 complete running and driving TOP 160K miles driven by and old man.

I plan on using the auto trans and everything to male it work I would like to keep the obd2 function tho. I want to keep as much of the exhaust as possible I LOVE the sleeperness of this setup plus all out speed isn't my objective.

I just have one question, is it possible to switch out the steering column from the expo to the ranger? than you in advance

I got there explorer for 200 the people DIDNT WANT IT muhahahahaha

I'm in los Angeles btw if anybody wants a door or something

anybody know if I can keep the obd2 port too? I'm not sure what harnesses to use

If you swap the whole dash over it'll make the wiring and steering column swap much easier.

that's what I was thinking but that new dash is WEAAAAAAK. I have read all the tech articles and so far I've come up with this.

1. the explorer engine will drop in with the stock headers.

2. I will need an oil filter relocator

3. I can mod to fit the explorer radiator.

4. I will need a mustang dual sump oil pan.

5. my stock drive shaft should work I have a 5 speed 91' 2.3

6. the fuel lines should be plug and play.

7. motor mount kit

I also plan on using as much of the explorer exhaust as possible I like the quietness of it. just on a tight budget and I'd just want it running. tri y's in the future

am I missing something besides the wiring?

anybody? I've read ALL the threads stickies allllll that I just want to make sure

come on anybody? I'm jut looking for a spot to start ripping out the 5L.

help pleaaase hahaha

I can't help you for the swap you are doing is not what I have done. Is your ranger your daily driver and you have no other wheels while you attempt this project? All i can say is from my own swap/build ... there are no easy ways to do it, and cheap?? you better have a good budget then give your self an extra 1,000.00 for the problems that will arise. The reason that no one is answering might be because every swap has its own hiccups and till you actually get your hands dirty, you don't have any problems yet.

hope this sheds a bit of light on it. And if i were you, i would keep reading all the V8 swaps you can to get a solid idea what you are up against. Then remember every build has its own challenges. no 2 are exactly the same.

thanks bro I appreciate the words. yea I'm currently looking for a spot to do it. I plan on buying that MRE book for ranger v8 swaps to see how that helps. thanks again bro

I'm not certain. But the explorer intake should be ok. Watch the height on it. I think it's low enough.

What engine mounts you planning on using?
