Alright guys,so my Rangers developed a tick when its under a load a couple days ago. No sounds whatsoever whenever at idle or reving in neutral. My first thought was stuck lifters, but wouldnt make sense when it only does it when driving? Anywho, need some help troubleshooting this issue, thanks in advance!

If it makes the noise while under heavy load, such as climbing a hill, then it may be pinging. If the EGR quits working or the knock sensor failed, you can get pings. Also check coolant level.

Im gonna try to clean out the egr system,if not replace it. Been doing some research on & found it could also be a blown exhaust gasket, crack in the header or a clogged cat causing odd back pressure.
