I have a friend that bought a 90 bronco II and swamped the motor first trip out. He dropped it off at a shop to get the motor swapped with another motor. 3 months go by and it is now sitting in my driveway.... dead.

It got here with the bad motor still in. We pulled the bad motor, swapped flywheels sincie other motor was a manual motor. When we pulled the motor out from the trans, the torque converter almost feel out on the ground. We tried spinning the torque converter back on the shaft of the trans like I have done every chevy I have ever owned and it wont go in.

The torque converter still moves up and down and hasn't engauged the smalllest set of teeth, but as you spin the TC in your hand you can feel the start of the teeth, but they will NOT align. The teeth inside TC and on trans input shaft all look good, but will not stab,

We measured the space and it needs about 5/8" to go before the motor and trans would be flush with each other.

I called only bronco guy I know... beau and he recommended this site VERY highly. PLEASE help me get this ford out of my driveway... We are going for a week long wheeling trip to N. Texas when this is done.

Thanks in advance,

hmmm

well shorty, i figured someone would throw in 2 cents for ya.

the info i got from my bud in navasota was good at least. i think that may have been the problem.

Sometimes they don't always spin on quite right. Sometimes you have to grab two of the studs and rock it up and down. I usually just put my hand over the snout and work it up/down and back/forth at the same time.

Not sure what else to say except to keep at it.
