Recently got a 90 ranger with an Auto trans. Shifting is poor at best, so my plan is to swap with a manual out of a 91. Evidently, the head gasket was blown and previous owner put Barr’s stop leak in radiator previous to gasket replacement. Donor vehicle will provide the radiator, clutch assembly, and the transmission. Anything I should know about before getting in to the trans swap?

I believe you will need the drive shaft too. I could be wrong so double check, but I believe the drive shafts are different lengths. Depends on what manual you are swapping in. The M50d is a much better transmission than the FM132.

FM132/145 was gone by 91. All the Ranger transmissions were the same length after 1988, so driveshafts shouldn't be an issue.

Also, a bicycle chain is stronger than an FM132/145
