Make it fast, Make it loud.
So I'm working on swapping my ranger to a 4.0, the 2.9 is absolutely gutless. I picked up a 2000 explorer 4.0 that was complete, plastic intake to oil pan. Mass air air box and ect I've got the trans code m, which is the strongest i believe.

So, I need to make a junkyard run to get an engine harness out of a 89-97 4.0 ranger, right?

He gave me an ecu out of an 98 which should have the pats or whatever the security system is, correct? So I can't use it.

So I've heard different things both ways that I can use the explorer harness, but I don't think I can because the motor is obdII.

I have heard that the '90 m5od tranny won't bolt up to the '00 4.0 on the bottom? Is that true?

I have read through many of the articles any never gotten the information, so any help would be great, because my 2.9 is on its last legs.

Also, why would I need the body harness? Wouldn't it be the same?

If, you're looking for a harness that just drops in, you'll want a 90-92 4.0 Ranger harness and ECU. The 4.0 didn't come out till 90 and in 93 the underhood layout was changed.

With that harness you may need to change a sensor or 3 on the engine to have the correct connectors.

You shouldn't have a problem bolting up your transmission.

Thanks for the reply, I've heard the plastic intake manifold won't work with the older trucks. Is that true?

What about the body harness? Shouldn't that work fine
