89 Ranger no spark

i had the ICM checked, its good. i got a crank sensor from the yard, looked pretty clean, but that didnt help... does anyone know how to test the resistance on the crank sensor? could it be the coil packs? i need this truck running ASAP.

any help or info would be very appreciated, thanks!!

sorry, I apparently didn't see it the first time...

to isolate the problem, swap the coil packs from side to side, only one of them fires during cranking which could be why you aren't seeing spark.

are all 3 screws in the icm?

oh. so all 3 screws need to be in the ICM in order for it to work properly?

the truck supposedly has 55k original miles on it... which is more likely to have gone bad? the coil or the crank sensor?

unless the crank sensor hit the vanes on the crank pulley it most likely isn't the sensor... my vanes hit the sensor, killed the alignment key for the crank pulley and the thing still ran, and my setup is kinda jerry rigged...

ya, if they aren't, you wont get spark.

problem solved. thank you to scott and bryan. one of the coils was indeed bad, and i was missing a screw on the ICM. the help is very much appreciated.
