89 Ford Ranger SAS

This is a way cool build thread!
I am new to this form, the first thread I clicked on was the TOTM, I saw your truck so I voted for you. :icon_thumby:
I want to build my truck kinda like yours, but I think I want to use a dana 30 out of a jeep. I want to see more pictures of your tube doors too!!!!

Sweet thanks a lot!
and Welcome!

So here are the pictures of the tube doors.
I used toggle clamps for the latches (You screw them down to your work bench, and they hold material down while you are cutting it), they are rated at 400lb.
Basically they just clamp down on the inside of the latch that comes out of the door frame. No rattle, no shake, and they are nice and sturdy. :icon_thumby:

What do you guys think?

Those are the exact latches I use on the doors I build. Except we get the whole kit, with the backing plates and lever extensions.
Without the lever extensions they tend to pop to easily, with barely any handle movement.

What do you mean by latch extension?

The arm on the latch is too short. They sell small tabs to be welded on the arms, for a longer throw. They take quite a bit of force to pull, and require minimal movement, the extensions just make the latch easier to pull with a longer pull, more like oem latches.

Hell, it may not even matter with tube doors...

Edit...
We get our kits from RJRacecars/ Quarter-Max
Part# 219407
I'd post a link, but I'm on my phone.

Yeah those do look good. I am just not sure if I want to through $70 into something that works fine for now...
I am defiantly going to save the link though.
thanks

Yup. And they do latch to the oem Ranger catch bolt.

Also they have the double latch feature that the oem ones do.

What'd you do you're hood with? I used John Deer Blitz Black. I brought the paint over to the body line so it blended a little more.

It is just cheep spray on bed-liner stuff. It is starting to chip a little. I need to sand it all down and do the job right.
I just put it on my things to do list.

Same way with my hood. If you check out my build you might be able to see what I mean about going to the body line on the front panels.

Congrats on OTOTM! I love your truck. Wish mine was to the point of completion so I could thrash on it! Also wish I lived in the vacinity of such high caliber trails as the Rubicon. You ever though about running long arms, either extending the factory arms or geting a set of Duff's?
