89+ column in a 88?

Was wondering if its possible to swap in a 89 and newer tilt column into a 88 or older ranger? I hate the wheel in my 88 and not having tilt. Junkyards around here are full of 89+ rangers that I could get a column out of if they are interchangable. I like the wheel on the 89+ alot better also.

Anyone done this swap?

I swapped an 88 tilt out for an 88 non-tilt a few years ago...as far as I know, everything is pretty much interchangeable from between 1st and 2nd gen Rangers...up to 92...I haven't actually seen any swaps of later to earlier (swap 93-97 into earlier)...

But the 89 column should work in an 88...you could try taking one out though...I've gone and torn vehicles apart only to find the part wouldn't work (like the 85 Mustang throttle cable won't work on a 88 2.0 engine...yet)...
