Howdy! Called the Auto parts store today to check on a fuel tank fill hose for my Bronco. The dude said yeah I got it...$189.00! So I called another store thinking this guy was nuts......Yeah we got one...$189.00!!!!
What the heck! Are they this expensive?

That's cheap compared to what they were just 4 years ago lol

However filler neck hoses for a Ranger are all over ebay for like $30 & up.
They'll fit a Bronco II with slight modification...
You have to cut the hose about 2-3 inches shorter, and you also have to reuse your stock metal neck section. The fuel tank end of the hose is also just a slight hair bigger, though it still clamps down fine using the hose clamp.

The ebay ones are no-name china stuff though... though it doesn't appear to be too cheaply made (I guess time will tell if the outer rubber cracks in 1 year, or in 20 like with the OE one, for $30 I didn't think it would be any great loss if it did).

hope that helps

Thanks Junkie!
What year and bed size Ranger could I get a hose off of ? A freind at work told me he knows someone who has a Ranger he is parting out.

Thanks!

The hose I got had PT# ADS1689. Depending on what site you go to, it'll say either "Fits all Rangers '90-'97 both longbed and short", others just simply say "Fits all Rangers" (those years), while some others will specifically state "Fits 108 & 125" wheelbase models" for whatever reason (they can't seem to make up their minds :icon_confused:  ). It did appear that it would fit my 114" WB Ranger, though I haven't actually tried to put one on it yet.

Well Junkie, I fixed my filler hose. I was going to try and spin the hose around so that the leaking end would be on top. When I removed the hose from the filler neck I realized that the inner hose had come off the filler neck! Re-clamped the inner hose and stopped the leak! Glad I didn't have to buy one!
Thanks for the help! Going to change out the little window washer pump today to get ready for the winter weather.

That's odd that the inner hose was somehow causing a leak... (trying to figure out how the leak can get through around the outer hose :icon_confused: )

Anyway, glad it turned out to be an easy fix regardless. :icon_thumby:

Yeah Junk the inner hose came off the filler neck so the fuel was running down the inside of the outer hose, which is dry rotted and cracked at the tank connection, and leaked out onto the ground. If I pumped the fuel real slow it wouldn't leak.
I got my windshield washer pump installed, now I'm waiting on my passenger side electric window motor and inner door handle. Everyone thinks I'm a gentleman when I let the old lady out at the store. Not! Just a broke door handle. She always ask why I want to drive the B-II when we have a new truck and car at home, women just don't get it!

Welp... Time has told. Two years and it's cracked.

Not many choices out there for a BII besides a dealer ($$$$$$$$$$$, IF they have one lol)... For anyone replacing theirs with an ebay hose (or any hose that is made in China), I suggest wrapping the outside of the hose with some good-quality electrical tape (Scotch Super-88 for example). I'm thinking this will hopefully keep ozone and other crap in the air from attacking the chinese rubber so quickly (and it cracking). Right where it's pushed over the fittings is where it tends to crack, so loosen up the clamps so you can wrap the hose with tape under there too.

Hope this helps someone.

P.S., FWIW the ADS1689 hose did fit my longbed Ranger, though it was a bit short (I had to reposition the hose on it's fittings almost as far out as it could go without it slipping off for it to fit well).

I replaced just the outer rubber hose on mine with fuel filler hose from o'reilly's. 25 bucks a foot maybe. Has kind of a wire around the outside of it to help it keep its shape. It fit between the body and frame no problem. Quick, permanent fix for under $100.

What really puzzle me is why the tank has only 1" inch of clearance from the body?

I can not find any bend parts holding that tank ;tank straps, tank plate, frame or body mounts ? :shok:

Help or comments are really appreciate
TIA

I don't think there is any problem with 1" clearance. Your second question I don't understand.
Also, the first four pics are way to big, could you please downsize them so I can see the pic on the page.
Thanks,

Richard

Dunno why imageshack did not resize the pictures, anyway is fixed now

my question is why the space between the tank and the floor is only 1" ?

is this correct ?

Nothing seems to be bend or twisted, body mounts looks good, unless the tank neck is too long and makes the fuel filler hose rub the bottom of the floor :dunno:

TIA
Andy

I'm not sure what the normal clearance is. I will try to remember to take a look at mine tomorrow. If someone else is reading this and is close to their b-II could you look in case I forget. Thanks,

Richard

It looks like someone put an extra section of hose or something on yours. On mine the filler hose goes straight down and has a single clamp at the bottom next to the tank.
