Yeah I figured that on the a/c, I'll unplug it until I can get it fixed. I'll try to get a sound clip of the tin can. I'll also check the dshaft. Thanks!AC sounds like a low charge. I don't know of a reason why you cant unplug the connector at the AC.
The tin can sound, odd that it doesn't make noise in first or second gear? If it does, then I would guess driveshaft or rear gears. When my original CV based driveshaft went bad it sounded a lot like a tin can full of rocks rolling down the road.

For $100 I got them with my Explorer rear axle ($100 for everything) your results may vary but it is fairly easy to change out springs and used ones are fairly cheap.
Your BII looks sharp, kinda freaky it looks a lot like Will's old BII (search around, it was pretty cool)
As far as "a plan"... you are young. Don't do anything drastic (like rolling fenders), research the heck out of every hairbrained idea you come up with before you do it. You will learn more things about it and how to do stuff and your "plan" will change.
I got my truck 17 years ago as a sophomore in high school... it isn't much like I intended for it to be back then.
If your vehicle is stationary and your foot on the brake, then neither the driveshaft nor the axles will turn. The engine can be running and then the torque convertor or clutch plate will turn, but basically nothing else. The convertor and.or the clutch seperate the engine from the rest of the drive train.
Block the wheels so you don't get run over.
