I have an 88 ranger reg cab, short box 4x4 with the madza 5speed that had a 2.3 in it, but it was taken out since the block was cracked. It's been sitting for a while and I want to get it back on the road. But I'm faced with what I should put in there, I was thinking of throwing back in a 2.3 but I feel that they're way too gutless. Then the thought of a 2.3 turbo has my intrest sparked, but if I find one more than likely I'll throw it in my 90 stang.

With my madza 5 speed, i'm only limited to a 2.3 correct? What do you guys think??

Searh the tech library as I believe the Mazda 5 speed was used behind every available motor in the Ranger and even in the 300 CI inline 6 cylinder fullsize Bronco's

... the bell housing is part of the tranny.

yeah i know, that's why i thought i had to only stick with a 2.3

well i found an explorer parts vehicle that i'm just going to rob the 4.0, interior, suspension, etc...from.
