88 Running bad

When im driving down the road or playing off road, sometimes the truck will bog down and begin to studder and blow black smoke out the pipes.. to fix it temporarly all i do is click the key on and off. Has anybody else had this problem? Or anybody know what causes it. Im thinking a 02 sensor?

check ur iacv, and ur map sensor, then check the o2 sensor

Intermittent TFI module or the wiring to it (which has a rep for it's insulation and connections breaking down).

Push the white button under the passenger side dash on the floor when it is acting up. If it goes normal, you found the problem.

The white button? Isn't that the fuel shut off switch in case of an accident? If it is bad or shut off, wouldn't the truck stop running?

yes it is..aka interia switch...generally, yes it shouldn't run with it not fuctioning.

seeing that your troubles are intermmitant, it wouldn't seem that is it. but it could be, although remote.

Have you pulled codes??

recheck grounds and vacuum lines, check for poor connections on both ....maybe the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulater). pull the little vacuum line off...if fuel dribbles out, then it's bad.

Mine is bad, when ever I go mild off roading or get sideways under an overpass, it trips and runs crappy for a few min and sometimes dies completly until i push it.
