88 Ranger won't start has fuel and spark ?

hi my 88 ranger 2.3L fi won't start ,it run's if I spray starter fluid in the intake ,I have fuel pressure coming out of the filter , I have changed the relay
any ideas ?? thanks

Can you test and see if you're getting signal to the injectors? Has the vehicle been sitting? I've seen old gas gum up all the injectors on an engine before.

yep, starting fluid is supplementing fuel, you can go to o'reilly and rent a "noid" light that pugs into your injector harness to verify that you are getting a signal to the injectors

also checking pressure at the fuel rail is always a good start too.

he said starting fluid helped.
i don't think it would run better with, or without starting fluid if the cam is either out of time, or not rotating at all.

If you are not getting an injector pulse there could be a problem with the crank or cam sensor.

Verify a digital signal at the injectors. If there, the problem is fuel related and you should stay on that track. You're good out of the fuel filter, but not at the injectors. I don't know where you live, so could the fuel (with moisture) be frozen in the fuel line up to the engine bay? Try blowing air through the line with both ends disconnected. If that works make sure your injectors and fuel rail aren't frozen. If not, use some carb cleaner to spray clean the injector tips. I'm guessing you should be running about now! Good luck.
