I wonder if any of the aircraft she used to work on are still flying?

back on topic, does the motor have any continuity?

Looks like she knows a good bit.
Paint scheme on the truck looks just like mine, I believe.

I just tested the old fuel pump that I removed and replaced with the brand new fuel pump. It runs fine.I’m really embarrassed and humiliated that I didn’t test it first thing right off the bat. So presumably the brand new pump is good and it’s getting electricity to the pump. Do I have to purge the air out of the fuel system to get the fuel to go to the engine?
No!
I disconnected all three hoses that go to the fuel filter and turned the key and nothing came out.
It’s like the fuel pump is good. It’s getting electricity, but it’s still not pumping fuel.

I’m having the same problem. Reading this thread, I tried some of the diagnostic procedures. I replaced the relay. I replaced the fuel pump because I was certain that’s what the problem was. I have electricity at the plug to the fuel pump. I can’t remember which forum, a guy said, hook up your multimeter to the pink and black wires, turn the key, it’ll go to 12 V for two seconds and then drop to 6 to 8 V. It did that. I took the fuel filter off and directed the hoses into a container and turned the key, no fuel spewed out. I opened up the air intake and sprayed starter fluid and it did turn over, obviously it didn’t run. So I know I have spark. I haven’t tried the Schrader valve at the fuel rail because it doesn’t seem like it’s sending any fuel at all. When I turn the key, I don’t hear the fuel pump.
it is not throwing any codes.
I think the next thing I’m gonna try is the sensor for the crankshaft.
(somebody said don’t throw parts at it and that’s what I’m doing!)

I'm just saying that a lot of times the simple stuff we should do 1st we have a tendency to overlook and not do.

So when you removed the old pump how much gas would you say was in the tank?
 
I plugged the known good old fuel pump into the plug that goes to the fuel pump and turned the key and the known good old fuel pump doesn’t run.

It’s weird something else that I just noticed, when I had the original problem, the fuel gauge did not read anything. When I put in the new fuel pump, the fuel gauge JUMPED to the level of gasoline in the tank. It seemed like the fuel gauge when connected to the new fuel pump was more spritely than it has been for a while, connected to the old fuel pump. And I had been having issues with the fuel gauge, not coming up or coming up real slow.

Now back to the topic at hand.

So when you tested the power that goes to the plug that plugs onto the fuel pump you got power.
Now you've figured out the old pump works but once you plugged it back up it does not come on.

Do you have some way to figure out if there is power even going to the pump when it's plugged up?

At this point I'm just spitballing here.
How can we figure this little task out?
2 test lights maybe?
Maybe put the pick parts of the test lights into the plug touching the ends of the wire clips that go onto the pegs on the fuel pump.
Making sure you have the right 2
For the pump.
Then clamp the alligator clip ends onto each of the pegs for the fuel pump.
Making sure you have them on the right way is key.
I don't know if this will even work at all.
Just trying to think of a way to test if you're getting power while you're hooked up.
 
Holy shit, I think I got it! I’m 99.8% sure, it’s the connector itself. I hotwired the fuel pump to the battery and it runs. Somehow the connector makes no electrical connection to the fuel pump. I am online now searching for connectors or the little tin female connectors inside the plastic plug. Wow, that was a mental workout and a rigmarole!

I would LOVE to know how much it would’ve cost me to take this to a mechanic or the dealer and how many parts they would’ve thrown at it themselves before they figured it out or even if they could figure it out.

If you do, you might be able to take it apart clean everything very well and tighten each of the wire ends so they are tight on the pins they plug to and reassemble everything.

Thanks no I haven’t bought anything yet. I was gonna attempt to disassemble the plug. I posted the message wondering if anybody could point me towards a YouTube video on how to disassemble the plug. I see they sell a special tool for this purpose. I’m wondering if I could get away with a really large sewing needle.

If you do, you might be able to take it apart clean everything very well and tighten each of the wire ends so they are tight on the pins they plug to and reassemble everything.
 
I found a lot of really nice videos on YouTube about “unpinning a connector”.
