88 ranger will turn but not turn over

According to what you said bout the computer it may be this that is gone bad because my fuel pump constantly stays on with the key in the on position without turning off .... is there a way to check before just replacing the computer??

If you know how to use a soldering iron, you may find that there are one or two failed capacitors inside the computer case, mounted to the main board. If you open the case, and look, you may find the capacitors swollen and leaking electrolyte.
If so, you can purchase replacements for less than $5. digi-key and Mouser are two online sources.
Computer Medics will also repair boards. They have an excellent reputation, and have a very good guarantee/warranty.
I think Computer Medics will test your computer for a fixed fee, including return shipping, and let you know if they can repair it and the fee.
