Ihave a 1988 ronger swapped out the 2.9 for a 4.0 also used the 2.9 trannie will i have to use the flywheel also or the flywheel from the 4.0 any advice would would gratefule to hear from someone on this thanks
You have 2 options. You can use a 4.0 flywheel and clutch, and a 4.0 manual starter, or you can use the 2.9 flywheel and clutch with a 4.0 auto starter.
You can't use a 2.9 starter, it doesn't have the balls to spin the 4.0 up fast enough without burning it up fast.
My advice, go with the 4.0 flywheel and clutch, the 4.0 will burn up the smaller clutch pretty quick. Make sure you have an M5OD or 4.0 auto trans in there too or you will blow your trans up PDQ.
