I got under my truck last night to change my O2 sensor and was hit in the face by 2-pin connector that was hanging down. I couldn't find the other end anywhere. The big end is in the transmission, on the right hand side, Pax side, about half way down the trans. Anyone know what this goes to? As of right now, the lil end is just hanging there.

If that is a later model M5od trans in your truck then the switch on the passenger side just ahead of the shifter is a neutral switch. The wires looped around the rear of the shifter to the DS and plugged into the harness that ties into the backup light switch on the DS and then up to the DS valve cover and to the Twin multi connectors on the DS inner fender. I don't think the 88 harness or computer used that switch it came out in 93. I rigged one to input a neutral sense for an electronic transfer on my friends 91 that I put a 93 trans in.

ACTUALLY the neutral switch was used UP TO 1993 and phased out after that.

Many 1993 transmissions don't even have the hole for the neutral sense switch
(it is for idle strategy on up to 1993 RBV's)

Tie that wire up out of the way so it doesn't get into trouble.

Otherwise ignore it.

So, since he has an 88, and he has the neutral sense switch, and since it affects idle strategy; shouldn't he look on the drivers side of the transmission for the matching connector and plug it back in? Instead of tying it up and ignoring it?
