so I had the fuel pump on the frame rail go a year or so ago. I changed it out with a new one and maybe started the truck three times. Ive finally had a chance to work on it again(had to change the slave cylinder) I got tranny back in and decided to start it before i put everything else back together. I turned key and truck started. I turned it off and then bolted tcase and drive shafts back on truck. Lowered it down and turn key and it will crank but not start. Getting power to the inline fuel pump but its dead (again) what else can a guy try also what would be killing the fuel pumps?? 88 ranger 4x4 ... what PSI is the fuel pump maybe i can try another setup.

Are you using fresh fuel? If not you may have clogged the pump, after a short while today's gas gets what looks like chunks of wax floating in it.

there is a second pump in the tank. are you sure the frame rail pump is bad? The tank pump is a pickup low pressure pump.

well when you pull the pump and power it up and it doesnt work that would usually be the pump... New problem. I pulled the tank to clean out all the old fuel before i put a new pump in. Well the tank now has a hole in it and i am thinking about putting a fuel cell in and am wondering what kind of Ohms the ford sending unit works off. I can order tanks with sending units that range from 0 to 90 ohms

It most likely the tank it's got a metal one it gets all nasty in there I swapped mine out for the plactic one from an 89 with the high pressure pump in the tank and got rid of the pump on the frame haven't had a problem yet
