88 Ranger Alt 3G Upgrade

I heard that a Taurus has a 95 or 130amp alt and I would like to make that upgrade. I have a 2.9 and there doesn't seem to be a article for the 2.9 upgrade. What is the year of the Taurus that I need to use for the upgrade? Electrical is no issue for me. Just need some info on the year of the Taurus that's required. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Go there and search for 3g alternator. You will have to use your fab skills to mount it.

I have a 95 amp 3G unit from a '95 E-150 van w/4.9L-I6 on my '90 2.9L.

It was a 100% direct bolt-up to the engine itself, however in addition to swapping the pulley over from the old alt, I did have to modify the wiring a bit... I cut the large plug for the 2G rectifier off and soldered a beefy ring terminal in it's place (connecting the two large wires together into one), then installed a separate single-terminal plug to connect the "S" terminal (this is the smaller of the 3 wires on the large plug that was cut off).

The 130A unit appears to be the exact same deal, with the exception of having to lengthen your upper mounting bracket, as the mount is further on top of the alt housing on the 130A unit (thereby making it not 100% bolt-on).

Looking back, I would've preferred to have the 130A unit, however I had an alt failure and needed to get it back on the road right away (the 95A unit came at my alt guy's recommendation).
I've been satisfied with it, it seems to put out an actual honest 70A or so, whereas the old "60A" 2G one dogged out at less than 40A it seems, it almost wouldn't keep up with the headlights + one set of 55W aux lights + the A/C blower fan running (which meant nothing was left to recharge my dual batteries at the same time).
