I was running this setup for a couple days, and it got progressively worse. When I revved up, when it came back down to idle, it would idle real low, and sometimes cut off. I thought it was the back pressure as it is coming out of the manifold and has a turndown right under the cab. No pressure at all. At the moment, I have true dual cherrybomb glasspacks just so I can get it to run right, and it runs better, but not perfect. It doesn't cut off anymore, but it idles real low after you rev it or drive it at over 2k RPMs. Also, oxygen sensor has been cut off, as I was told it didn't need it... Do you think back pressure is the issue?

If it is, I am investing in some headers in a short while, and I'm planning on running X pipes out behind the wheels on it. If there is not enough back pressure on it then, I'm gonna put the glasspacks on it, and hopefully that should be enough?

You most certainly DO need that 02 sensor bud....

That 02 controls exactly how your engine runs....it is there to supply the correct amount of fuel to the engine. It will not run right without it....it will be in limp mode all the time.

Your engine management has 2 different ways of operating...closed loop and open loop.

Open loop, the engine will run on preset fuel trims until a certain criteria is met (which is controlled by the o2 sensor) Once those criteria are met, it will switch to closed loop which is when the ecm monitors the o2 and uses its readings to keep the engine running at peak efficiency.

You need that o2 for your EEC 4 engine management to work properly.

exactly what they all said, who ever told you that you didnt need it, do us all a favor and dont ask them for advise anymore.:icon_thumby:

x6 get that thing back in there...u will get alot worse gas mileage without it...whoever told u that u didnt need it needs to be rick james'd

alright i agree with everybody /\ but on my 89 with the 2.9 i had true duals with super 44s and 3" pipe, an it had no O2 sensor, ran perfect and had no CEL at all. how come mine ran right? its something that always confused me.

I got an O2 sensor back on there and she seems to be running fine, minus a few cut offs due to back pressure, but I'm not worried about that. I love her sound too much to change it to not have to crank it up once every 100 miles...

if your still wondering about the back pressure i would put something other then glass packs because my brothers truck ran really ruff with glass packs the he put flowmaster's super 40 muffler on it and it ran fine but then again it was a chevy.

I'm not really worried about it, I don't mind cranking the truck up every once in a while, and certainly would not sacrifice loudness to not have to crank it up... Haha, I love it
