I know there has been a lot of threads on the 2.9-4.0 swap but nobody has answered this question. Since the 4.0 has the same dimensions can I just use a 4.0 short block and keep my top end and electrical. I really don't have the time to mess with the whole engine and electronic swap. If so, will computer wig out because of the displacement change.

The top end from the 2.9 won't fit the 4.0 and even if it did you would need a comp from a 4.0 to run it.

Actually the 4.0 shares the bellhousing pattern of the 2.9, but nearly everything else is different.

the thing that's different that affects you is that the 4.0's longer stroke
requires a taller block deck height... so the cylinder heads are farther apart.

And this question has been asked, and answered, many many times
