You could use stacked washers as a spacer, http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/WasherCoilSpacers.htm


Its not too hard to install these spacers, you have to take out the coil, and replace your bolt-like-things, install the spacer and then put the coil back in.

You will need an alignment afterwords, as your tires will be sitting like this \ /

Basically this process, only you use the same coil and place the spacer underneath it

Yes, it'll be the same for 2wd or 4wd

Welding them is a good idea, as they wont slide around

All trucks have shocks, look to the rear of the spring, probably attached to the Radius arm, those two white and yellow things that say Pro-Comp are shocks. You remove it so that the axle can fall down enough to get the spring out.

ok thanks i never really cchecked out the front end,
so this is what i will plan to do, correct me because i know i will get some stuff wrong

First jack up the axle, then put jackstands under the frame, then unscrew the shocks just a little bit to get it loosen wheras it will be more tention on it when the full weight of the axle is on it, then let the axle the whole way down, but i will keep the jack on it so when i unscrew the shock from the axle it wont come tumbling down, the unscrew the shocks the whole way, lower the jack so the axle comes down, put the spacer in above the coil, than jack the axle back up into place, screw the shocks back on, and im done?
 
Just about, but, the spacer goes below the coil, hence the need for the longer bolt-like-things...

And the axle is not going to tumbling down, the Radius arm will hold it up

The bolt is what secures the coil to the axle beam. The bolt threads in the axle and then the spring is held onto the axle with a big nut that threads onto that bolt.
Imagine the blue as the bolt thing, a nut threads on top of it to hold the spring in place.

Being that your adding a spacer, the bolt needs to be longer. The bolts that come with the spacer kit thread onto your existing ones, making them lonegr

1-1/2" is the most you want to go, that should get you just over 2" of lift. if you go too far, you wont be able to align it. you will need to take it to an alignment shop when you are done too.
