1988 Ranger w/2.3 5-speed. Truck starts fine when cold but dies in 10 minutes and won't restart for 2-3 hours. What could be the problem? Coil? Ignition module?

Go to harbor freight and buy a spark checker. If you have spark, you can go back and buy a fuel pressure gauge. It's probably one or the other.

The TFI modules in that timeframe do all the timing work for ignition and injection and are prone to failure, if I was going to point at one thing first I would do an ignition module... next would be fuel pump, with those symptoms not sure whether I would do the in tank low pressure pump or the high pressure in the frame rail...

I've had MAP sensor cause that exact failure pattern. You can check by simply unplugging it when the problem happens and seeing if the truck restarts.

That said, TFI is the more likely culprit.

Moving this to the 4-cyl section…
