I have a 88 bronco 2 with a 2.9, 4x4,a4ld, auto tcase. I found a 85 bronco 2 with a 2.8,4speed,4x4, manual tcase. Will this work to change the transmission from auto to manual. Need to know asap.

It should work however a better canadate would be the FM146 5sp. out of a late 80's (not sure of exact years, check tech section) BII or Ranger. You will have driveshaft issues with this tranny however. The back would be too short and the front too long. This is because the 4sp. is shorter than the A4LD. Also the x-member will have to be relocated but the holes should be there for that.

The year is a 88-90 i do believe.

Yeah I know about the fm146. I think to go see how much a jasper fm146 will be and get the rest from the junkyard. Since the new unit will not come with a bellhousing i have some Q's.

1. from my understanding the bell housing of my a4ld will work and function properly just by swapping them right?
2. Do i need the floor plate i keep see people talking about.
3. What year pedal assembly woorks with the 88.

xmember will have to be moved about 2"-2.5, holes will already be there, front driveshaft will need to be cut down(or if u have a d28, u can use a d35 front shaft i believe) rear lengthend 2-2.5"

M50D gets my vote, same length as the A4LD and the strongest manual of the lot.
