88 2.9l has no power

My 88 2.9l ranger runs fine but has little power an i dont want to swap motors i would like to keep the 2.9l but also i would like more power an speed out of it

Any ideas i could use

I wish I could be a little more optimistic for you, but as has been said on TRS before, the only cost effective upgrade for a 2.9, is a 4.0 . There are somethings you can do, but in the end a base 4.0 will kick a cranked out 2.9 9/10 times.

Alight i have to do that then do you no if a 4.0 well attatch to a 2.9 transfer case or transmission
