Greetings, I am currently doing the turbo swap to a 1983 Ranger. Of course the oem engine was carburated. I am having some issues with what I really need when it comes to the wiring harnesses. I have the engine harness w/ecm, but i'm not sure what to do about the relays etc. I have already had someone tell me I don't need the rest of the harness, I just need to power up the engine harness using the ignition with a relay installed. If anyone has delt with this issue and can help, I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Steve

Have you tried the Forced Induction Forum, RangerPowerSports or TurboRangers forums?

I am waiting to hear back from the people at Turbo Rangers. I did'nt know about RangerPowerSports, I'll check over there also. Thanks

RangerPowerSports is slightly more active than TRS and wayyy more active than TurboRangers.

RPS is more active but their tech section sucks... not bashing or anything but the tech section here is so more involved and Jim and all the mods, tech guys, and everyone else has done a whole lot better here to give people a vast amount of knowledge to people that otherwise would have to pay for it... RPS is a good site for talking and showing off but just because one site has more traffic and is more active doesn"t mean its better... And over on TRF ive had problems getting replies to questions and their all for the boosted rangers... So thats why if i cant find an answer here i dont try anywhere else... their all good guys but ive just not had any luck with any other tech section or forum...

Hey mini274, were you able to adapt the harness on your 91 to fit the 2.3 turbo, or did you have to modify quite a bit? Oh, by the way, thanks to you and to The_Ghost for the info.

im running the factory ecm still but also my truck is not my DD... im lookin into an sct tuner for mine... the bast thing cant ell you for your build is use your dash harness and just put the wiring that you have in yours and go with that... then repin your dash harness... every body else just repins the factory harness for the turbo computer.. yours being carbed you have to change harnesses anyway

sorry about the late response, I just got homefrom work. I am using the the harness that came with the turbo engine(88 t-coupe). I only have the engine harness with the ecm. I am trying to figure out how to use the Rangers harness to power up the t-coupe harness. I have the schematics, but electrical has never been a strong point, so any direction you can give me would be really helpful. Thanks again, Steve

well there is alot of wire on the 88 harness you will not use, did you get the IRCM box with it? If not you need to get one it has a smaller looking ecu style plug, and this is the main relay box, for fans, fuel pump and such.

wiring

yes, I do have the IRCM with the harness. After looking at the harnesses and the schematics, your right, it is apparent that most of the 88 harness won't be used. I'm trying to figure out what I need so I can power this thing up.

I am not sure, but it is like 6 wires to hook up with the 85/86 harness I use...
