I have a trailer that is made from the ass end of an 87 Ranger. It has the 7.5 inch rear end. My problem is, the guy who built it put it on 33's and made about a 3 inch lift by stacking pieces of rubber and bolting it between the perch and spring. This makes it very unstable with a load, it sways all over the place. I went to the pick-n-pull and got a sway bar, which helped, but it still does it.

So my question is, with this being a 7.5 rear, will the Explorer springs directly swap? And will something else help to get rid of my sway? I'm sure the shocks are shot too.

I don't want to mess up my bed on my 96 Ranger by hauling rocks, so this info will be very helpful.

Yes, the Explorer springs will still swap over, you just need to flip the center pin. New shocks would probably also help the sway.

:headbang:

Thank you very much! I knew someone could point me in the right direction.

That sounds scary!:icon_surprised: Definitely get that straightened out pronto.
Explorer springs are good for a hair under 2" lift (of course that's on an intact Ranger though, not sure if that'll still hold true here). Extended shackles can get you another 1.5" on top of that if needed.

What? The perches are mounted on the bottom the frame? i thought they only did that on explorers?

The "perch" is the pad that is welded to the axle tube. Your thinking of the spring hangers.
