This is a 87 Ranger XLT 4x4, with the 2.9. The truck runs great aside from one small issue. So if I am driving it and come to a stop quickly, the engine seems to sputter, meaning it drops idle and then regains it.When this happens is seems to lurch forward. This mostly seems to happen if I have to make a quick stop. If I have time to slow down it seems to react normally.

Items I have replaced in the last year are. It has a newly rebuilt A4LD Transmission, new exhaust ,with new exhaust manifolds, New IAC, New TPS, New plugs. New MAP Sensor.

Wondering if this is a timing issue. Any help or suggestions are appreciated as aside from the mentioned issue the truck runs great.

wonder how your motor mounts are?? or the tranny mount too, considering the resent work past the bellhousing.

if one is sloppy, then in your short stop situations, maybe it is tweaking vacuum lines or ground wires. giving the sputtering

Also curious about the fuel pressure.
