87 Ranger Drive Shaft

I have a broken rear drive shaft on my 87 and I cannot seem to find another one, all the ones i see are for the short wheelbase stx and mine is a long, 125" wheelbase supercab xlt, manual trans. The only salvage yard that had one ended being bent so it was no good. I figure il have to have a custom one made so if thats the case does anyone have any recomendations? Dont need a heavy duty off road drive shaft, just a stock one

I would upgrade to a one piece, if that is not a option i do have one you can rebuild

I am looking into a one piece right now, the only thing that has me confused is the smaller flange on the axle, in the tech section it says i would need a u-joint attachment with a 2.5" bolt spacing. I noticed in your signature that you did the 1 piece swap on your 87, would the smaller attachment from the 87 shaft fit the 1 piece?

You know i have not idea. I walked in to one of the yards and told them what i wanted too do, thy came back with a drive line and it bolted right up in to my truck. removing the cross-member of course.
Its been running great with no problems for two years i think its been.
Maybe someone can shed some more light on the subject

Im pretty sure iv got it figured out, il put up a thread when its done incase someone else needs some help. Thanks alot for the help, i didnt even think of the 1 piece swap.

defff go with the one piece driveshaft...i have a 1987 ranger extended cab with the 2.9 also...and my driveshaft broke...i went to standard auto and they took my old broken drive shafts and i took measurements from the flange that is on the rear diff to the trans or transfer case and it bolted right up...you will have to cut out the crossmember that is in there holding the carrier bearing

Go to a drive shaft shop and buy a FRONT flange for a 1-piece shaft and just install it on the rear when you do the u-joints.

Let me hit the garage tonight and see if I have anything you might be able to use.
