You need to have it aligned before cutting anything. That may, and probably will change your rubbing issues significantly.
Keep an eye on those tires, BF Goodrich has not made "Radial All-Terrain" tires in at least 15 years, maybe 20 or more. Those tires are OLD and I've had some of those in particular dry rot from the inside out. Rock em if you got em but really keep an eye on cracks and other signs of weathering.
