Just as the topic states, valves or lifters sound like they are starving for oil. This one actually has an oil pressure gauge on it, or should I say it's the standard oil pressure gauge that they come with, and it reads normal.

So, do I need to maybe think about another gauge, maybe the oil pump, or something else?

Yes put a mechanical gage on it. The one from the factory is merely a switch and are known for giving false reads.

my daughters stock race truck(85 ranger 2.9) was doing the same thing (rattle under load) and we adjusted the valves not knowing if that would help or not, but she ran a full1/2 second faster, and it hasnt rattled since, OH YEAH, she also picked up her first WIN on 4/30/11, and still havent done anything to it since the adjustment, just my .02

Just as C.C. said. I also adjusted my rocker arms till not more rattle. Engine runs like a top and the truck drives just fine.
