anyone know where to find a wiring diagram for an 87 ranger? i also need a new main connector cause all the wires fell out of mine and now i dont know where they should all go. its just like 20 bare wires hangin out of the radio hole right now:bawling:.

checked the tech library and the oldest diagram in there is for a 90

also how can you tell if you had the premium sound system from the factory?

i could be wrong but i had an 87 b2 for parts and it had what i believe to be a factory amp mounted on the top of the dash in the middle under a metal cover. check to see if you have a metal cover in middle of dash.

If they all fell out. Unless you can correctly re scure them. I don't think it's a good idea to just put them back in. That could be a hassard.

ya i was wanting to just get a new harness or connector thing and correctly resecure them with the new part. and yes im pretty sure i do have a metal cover in the middle of my dash it always rattles and pisses me off. also my dash speakers are missing but the back seat ones are still there.

go to the junk yard and see if they have a gen 1 with the wiring harness still in it, if they do just chop off the connector leaving a few inches of wire and then re-wire it into your existing harness. the colors should all match and then you can just buy the plug in adapter to wire into the aftermarket stereos harness. when i was younger and dumber i had an 87 and wanted to put a radio in it, so i chopped off the factory plug real close to the end so i would have extra wire to work with, then i tried to wire it directly into the stereos harness. it took me 2 days to get it working, after having to learn how a test light works, removing all 4 speakers and checking the colors of the wires, then double checking the colors of the wires, then butt connecting everything only to run out of butt connectors and having to drive to the store with my stereo hanging out of the dash to get more butt connectors........ oh to be young and dumb again....

lol ya i would get one at the junk yard but ive called all the local ones several times and still no older rangers. I found some on ebay but im fairly certain none of them will work with the premium sound system. ill put up a wanted ad.

also 1st gen bronco II will work.

is this what you are looking for
