87 ls into 01 axel?

Ok so I'm about to pull my 7.5L/S out of my 87 ranger to place a 8.8L/S. But my question is can I take out the 7.5 l/s carrier out of the 87 and place it in my 01 2wd 7.5 open axle. I would do this b/c I need the speed sensor for my 01. I think I would also change the gearing now I have 3.75 and the 87 axle has 4.10.

a 7.5 is a 7.5...so yes the gears and carrier will swap...but dont forget you need to set up the R&P properly or you'll destroy the gears.

just swap the whole l/s 7.5 in, it already has vss for the abs froom the 87 ranger, so the 87 or 01 vss sensor should work with the 87 tone gear

I pulled all the wires from the truck today and I didnt find any vss on the 87 ranger.
the 87 is a stx 4x4 supercab. is it suposed to have abs
Im also plan on pulling the the axles out of the 87 to replace the bent axle on the 8.8

wierd, thought rabs was started in the late gen 1 models, guess they didn't start it until gen 2, because my 89 Bronco II has Rabs, and the vss for the Rabs looked to be the same 1 as my old 2000 ranger vss


sorry, just looked at wiki, guess Rabs was added to the gen II(89 up) so sorry for the false info
