What gears you plan on running?

4.88s i know its gona be low for those tires but when they wear out i dont plan on getting 39s again. probly 37s. i traded an intake manifold and some mufflers for swamper trxus stss at tread wear bars on craigslist. thats the only reason i got tires that big. haha i love craigslist.

just ordered full spool 4.88s and full axle rebuild kit. gonna throw all that together when it comes in. going home tomorrow nite for the weekend should have pics posted sunday. hopefully, if not then tuesday at the latest. primary goals for the weekend are front brake lines, trac bar, fit the rear axle tube, and possibly driving and aux/reverse lights.

any specific pic requests? oh yea ill be posting big ones this time, i hope

i got the front brake lines ran. drove it around the driveway and up under the garage to get the trac bar mocked up.

the trac bar mount is just a stock 79 f100 mount on some 1/2in plate steel i got a lil while back. when i had it sitting in the garage i had my buddy hop in and turn it lock to lock for SnG's. and even with the one grade8 bolt holding it in it didnt really flex all that much. at first i was like  but then i was like :D. once i get it all done im gona see how much it still flexes and if it does then im gona box it up.

im kinda worried about clearance issues with the trac bar. should i move it foward or back? back and itll clear the engine cradle but may be too close to the spring and foward ill have more spring clearance but then itll be closer to the cradle....:dunno:

the red is the 1/2 plate. what do yall think?

sorry for the late post but i just noticed this! im glad i could help lol, when i was first starting to mount my axle i wanted to build as much stuff on my own as i could without buying off the shelf parts. i didnt realize that what i did would end up on someone elses rig! what i did for the spring bolt on the bottom, i got a bolt with a good sized shank (cant remember size), pressed (pounded lol) and tacked the bolt in there. that way you only need 1 wrench to get the nut off. then used the stock RBV coil seat things. :icon_thumby::icon_welder::icon_cheers:

chuck, i dont know length eye to eye. but the pipe is 31" so i guess its about 2 or 3" from the eye to the pipe on each end. soo id say ~35-37"

7.5, thanks man. i kinda got the same philosophy about building too. make everything you can. and ive been thinkin about the perch. and the radius arm is on a bushing so isnt gona have to flex a lil? and wouldnt that cause problems if i welded everything in? do you think i could get away with just getting some grade 8 bolts and nixing the vertical piece?

benny, if it aint broke....dont fix it. lol if i rip the bucket out. you have every right to say i told you so. haha

clear the engine crossmember, I cut mine all up.

I can go full bump with no interference

:icon_thumby: bump to bump no rub!? whoa love it

but, ill keep it simple and start with the location of the trac bar and bend it if necessary. simplicity is key in my book.

i know its not a ranger....but its something i kinda built and funny so i figure its fit for a build thread lol

this lady's got this done for daughter-in-law because her d-i-l has breast cancer and its the breast cancer ribbon pink. the car was blue when it came in and 3hrs and $2400 later its pink haha

i personally wouldn't git rid of the vertical piece. i may be mistaken but dont those bushings kinda set the caster? if so why not just make it to where the vertical piece bolts on to the horizontal piece that way it can be removed fairly easily? sorry kinda long.

please excuse my MS paint skills, but this is what i was thinking since that radius arm mount flexes a little:

i was thinking about solid mounting both peices then put some kind of bushing, a peice of thick rubber would work fine, then just bolt through it.

its like you read my mind, but with pictures.

ive kinda been thinkin bout this too. i think thats how im gona set it up. i think im gona bore out the holes on the horizontal piece cause its gona have to slide a slight bit. idk well see. ill figure it out when i have it all laying infront of me. i finally found some wheels off craigs list. gona go pick them up this weekend. ill post pics of those when i get them mounted up next week.
