Bought this old farm truck and have been fixing it up slowly whenever I have time to do so. I have to say I have done a lot more work then I expected too haha. It's an 87 4x4 5spd longbox with 2.3L diesel.

Here it is when I towed it home with a friends truck.

The cylinder head was cracked and it was pushing coolant out, previous owner put a 25psi rad cap on it and I am surprised it didn't blow anything up!

While it was apart I found the camshaft was a low lift setup after many years of not having a valve set.

Brand new head oem Hyundai head installed with new camshaft and upgraded to to roller rockers from solid rockers. Hyundai bought the rights from Mitsubishi for this engine and still makes them even after 30+ years.

Custom alternator mounting by the previous owner, belt tension changes as engine moves.

Here is some of the interesting to say the least custom farmer mods done to the truck over the years.

Here is the lift. This crap was welded on and a spacer put on the spring to lift it. The radius arm was left alone and stock length shocks used, castor angle was way way off and the front driveshaft rubbed on the crossmember. The steering was terrifying at speed!

Rebuilding the front. Replaced the radius arm bushings, pivot bushings, ball joints, every u-joint, wheel bearings, rotors, brakes, brake lines etc upfront.

Front done and next step is to remove the bed and get the rear done. I have new spring hangers and shackles to go on. I also have an extra leaf to add and new spring pin bushings.

Please reduce the size down to 800 by 600 for those of us that dont have a 72" hi-definition big screen.

Please!

Also, nice truck! Well, what I could see by scrolling back and forth and back and forth :icon_thumby:

Sorry about the size, didn't realize this place was stuck in the year 2005 had no auto resize:sad:

Tackled the rear suspension next, it had a really crappy made "lift" kit with some steel channel welded in the wrong spot to try and lower the shackle mount:icon_confused:

Put all new spring hangers front and rear, new shackles, new spring pin bushings and while I had the leaf packs apart I added 1 extra leaf. It also got new shocks, parking brake cables, shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, brake hardline and a brake hose. Cleaned the frame with a flap wheel on a grinded and a bit of tremclad.

Not gonna lie, this really makes me want to lift my 92. Such a good looking truck!

Great looking truck. I wouldn't mind a Diesel Ranger, I've only seen 1 and it was at one of the local pick a parts last year :(.
