Will a 87 cylinder head work on an 89 engine block on 2.3l? I have a 89 engine but it has coil packs but I need the distributor so I figure I could get a 87 cylinder head and use the same engine block. Will the exhaust and intake from the 89 match the 87 head? Thanks!

The head will fit the block...they bolt right on...

You have an 87 Ranger but you want to put an 89 block into it...is that correct?

That will work...I have an 89 mustang head on an 87 Ranger block...

Yes an 89 block in an 87 ranger. That way I can use the distributor the way it was originally.

Should work just fine...there are many mix and match combos that will work with these motors...the block I used didn't have a fuel pump slot so I just added an electric one inside the engine bay...worked out very well...
