Hey

I have recently purchased my 1987 BII, it's my first off-road car and I love it :icon_thumby:
It's my project/winter beater car

Anyway i have a problem with sagging leaf springs and i can't seem to find any stock springs locally, all I could find is rough country springs(I believe they lift 3 inches).

Is it possible to put these springs in and then put 2 inch leveling spacers in the front?? :icon_confused:
Would that work??

I wanted to lift it a bit anyway so that might work out fine

Thanks

You can do that but the front will probably be to low these rigs are short and look dorky fast when the height isn't right. You might be able to pull some of the smaller leaves and let it go down to match the shimmed front sounds risky with new springs. Many people run Explorer springs from a junk yard to bring them back to the proper height. The back of a Ranger has a pair of blocks that are two inches tall and will raise the back again from the wrecking yard. One of the advantages of your B2 is rangers and explorers have a lot of parts that fit you can accomplish a lot by exchanging parts that are plugging the wrecking yards for cheap. It's pretty surprising how many parts exchange when you really look into it.

I was thinking of using explorer springs, aren't they thicker than bronco ones tho??

For offroading isn't it better to have soft springs?? Or will they be ok?? :icon_confused:

explorer springs will lift it, but only if they arent worn out as well.

you could do a couple things, eaiest would be to go buy a 1 inch block.

you could also get a longer shackle

I'm afraid that explorer leaf springs will be too stiff for off roadin

What years of explorer should I be looking at??

they wont be. a lift spring would be stiffer than EX springs.

pretty much any year leaf springs will work, just as long as they dont have a mono-leaf

One more question

If I lift the front with spacers, like 2 inches all I need to do is alignment right??
Everything else stays stock??

yep. you could get 2" lift shocks, but the stockers will be fine too

I went down to a local salvage yard and picked up a pair of 1999 explorer springs for $100
They bolted right in
Now the rear is level with the front :headbang:
Thanks guys
